After being part of the recently concluded Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited, John Prats said he gained a lot of perspective after experiencing what it was like being a host after being a housemate in PBB’s Celebrity Edition back in 2006. “Well it’s better, the feeling that na ikaw naman ngayon yung nanunuod sa kanila, you get to comment on what they’re doing and masaya lang siya pero pressured lang lagi ako pag mga eviction night. But after that okay na naman ako and mahirap talaga maging housemate. To be the host of Pinoy Big Brother ang magtatawid sa mga viewers sa nangyayari sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya and then the audience,” he said.
John said his first real immersion into hosting was in the now defunct noontime show Happy Yipee Yehey where he would go outside the studios and visit different barangays by himself to interview the crowd. The 28-year-old actor-turned-host admitted to feeling a bit overwhelmed during his first few days on the job. “Na-overwhelm ako pero in a positive way. Kasi yun naman yung objective ng show is for the people, para sa kanila talaga. Kumbaga sila yung bida ng show. And nagiging grounded ka siguro as a person, ang sarap lang kasi sa show na yun is nagbibigay ka ng fun and joy at the same time nakakatulong din sa kanila,” he told Push.com.ph.
As PBB Teen Edition’s newest host, John said he has fully embraced hosting as part of his career in showbiz. “Dati ang ginagawa ko nag-ko-comedy ako and then drama, but now I’m more in love with hosting since na-try ko siya sa HYY na mag-isa lang ako sa labas and ang dami kong nakakausap na tao. Now I’m in love with hosting that’s why gusto ko halos lahat ng trabaho ko hosting. When it comes to Banana Split din naman host din ako dun so ang saya lang. Kasi that’s you eh, you’re not portraying a role, ikaw yun,” he said.
For this upcoming season, John said he hopes the current batch of teen housemates will just be true to their real personality. “With teens naman kasi mas magiging light and mas fun yung show. Masaya and enjoy lang. Dapat siguro huwag sila mahiyang ipakita yung tunay na sila. Kasi yun lang yung ginawa ko. When you enter Pinoy Big Brother, dapat totoo ka.
