After doing Budoy, Jessy Mendiola said she is just taking it easy until her next acting project which is still under wraps at the moment. The pretty mestiza admitted that after being launched as part of Star Magic’s Batch 15 over five years ago, she has matured a lot not just as an individual but as an actress as well.Jessy denied that she has become snobbish as a result of her growing success in the business. “I’m more outgoing now, mas hindi na nahihiya. Dati pag tinatanong ako tahimik lang ako, one word, two words, tapos na. Pero para sa sarili ko, hindi ko masasabi na ganun kasi yung mga tao na nasa paligid ko, they keep me grounded. Even yung mga veteran actors sa Budoy sinasabihan kami na huwag magbabago. So palagi na-ri-remind sa amin na huwag magbago,” she said.
Although it was rumored that she was dating Angelito star JM De Guzman last year, the 19-year-old actress still refused to elaborate on what exactly happened to their budding relationship and just said that they have remained friends until now. But if he were to ever try to seriously court her, she said only time will tell what will happen next between them. “Well depende na lang sa kanya yun kung kaya pa niya (laughs) kasi siya din yata busy. May soap siya ngayon. I don’t know, I guess kung gusto niya manligaw, manligaw siya. Kung hindi eh di hindi. I think time will tell naman talaga yan eh. Work talaga is very hectic. Hindi naman puwedeng manligaw lang, bibigyan na ng way,” she told Push.com.ph.
Aside from JM, Jessy confessed she does not think there are other guys with intentions of courting her at the moment. “Wala. Hindi ko nga alam umaaligid siya nun eh (laughs). Kaya hindi ko alam kung may umaaligid pang iba. So hindi ko alam. Basta sobrang nawala nga yung connection ko sa mga issues,” she admitted.
During Star Magic’s 20th anniversary press con, Jessy shared what she learned as part of the top talent management agency. “I learned about patience and teamwork. Sa Star Magic kasi, ganyan talaga eh. Nagbibigayan kami, ganun (laughs). Hindi lang siya talent agency, para siyang family,” she said.
Jessy also shared details about her upcoming movie under Star Cinema wherein she will be paired with Enchong Dee. “Ngayon nag-shu-shoot kami para sa bagong movie called The Reunion. It’s the first time in a long time sa Star Cinema na gumawa ulit sila ng barkada film since Gimik and Trip. It’s directed by Frasco Mortiz,” she said.
