Enrique Gil: ‘Wala akong gagawin na baka makasira sa friendship naming apat’

As one of the three leading men of Kathryn Bernardo in the upcoming teleserye Princess And I, Enrique Gil is aware that there might be a friendly rivalry between him, Daniel Padilla, and Khalil Ramos. But he refused to do any gimmicks just to convince the viewers that he would make the best on screen partner for Kathryn. “Ahh basta, kung ano na lang ibigay ni direk Dado (Lumibao) sa akin, wala na akong ibang gagawin na baka makasira pa sa friendship naming apat. Ayoko po, chill lang ako,” he said in an interview with a few members of the press.

Enrique maintained that all of them would be given equal exposure once the teleserye starts showing on air. It would really depend on how the story progresses in the next few months. “Hindi ko talaga masasabi [kung anong mangyayari sa team-ups]. Sabi naman ni direk parehas lang yung [treatment sa love teams] pero ewan ko malakas rin yung chance nila (Khalil and Daniel). Sa ngayon po chill lang muna ako. Sa kalagitnaan ng teleserye, people get to choose [kung sinong bagay sa character ni Kathryn], so who knows. Ngayon po chill muna ako.”

Nevertheless, the 20-year-old actor related that he and Kathryn have their share of bonding moments off cam. He added that he had fun shopping an advance birthday gift for her during a side trip in Bangkok after their taping in Bhutan last month. “Kasi naghahanap siya dun ng [mabibili]. [Sabi niya], ‘Uy, malapit na birthday ko.’ ‘Oo nga pala.’ Nagtitingin siya ng lalagyan ng watch sa Bangkok. Sabi ko, ‘O sige ako na ang bibili, birthday mo at wala pa akong gift.’ Hindi naman sa tiangge, sa mall naman [ko ibinili]. [Unplanned yun] kasi ’di ko talaga alam kung anong gusto niya. So nakita ko nung may hinahanap siya, at least alam ko na yun ang gusto niya.”
